Chapter 3: The Daughter Without a Shortcut

Ely Lam woke up in such a situation that she did not know what to do. At twenty years old, she had never even had a boyfriend. Yet now, she was lying on the bed of a strange man. Moreover, judging from what she could tell, this was probably his house. How had she been brought here?

Surely, given Paul Hu’s personality and the bond between them, he would never sell her out.

Then, how long had she and this handsome man been here?

Ely Lam searched through her memories, then quickly let go of Liam Vuong’s hand and cautiously sat up, intending to sneak away from this place. But before she could even leave the bed, an arm pulled her back.

“Where are you going?” His voice was extremely commanding. Perhaps because he had been drunk the night before, the alcohol had lingered, making his voice slightly hoarse.

Ely Lam was startled, her heart pounding violently. She did not dare say a word as she turned around to look at the man lying on the bed. His eyes were tightly closed, yet the strength in his hand was overwhelming.

Was he actually asleep?

“Let me go. Where is this? Why am I here with you?” Her long hair was spread messily around her. She had probably just woken up, so she looked somewhat disheveled. Yet, in Liam Vuong’s eyes, there was a strange gentleness.

Liam Vuong frowned tiredly and tightened his grip on her hand, pulling once. Ely Lam fell onto him without the slightest strength to resist. Perhaps because she had been running a high fever the night before and had been unable to eat anything, she was extremely weak now.

“Don’t move. Could you be quiet for a moment?” Liam Vuong said coldly. This was the usual him—extremely cold and difficult to approach.

“Okay…!” Ely Lam felt a chill run down her spine. Even the soles of her feet felt cold.

Normally, although she was not particularly timid, she knew when to keep quiet and understood the limits of a situation. He was still drunk, and they had not even taken their clothes off while lying beside each other. The situation was still much better than it could have been. She should remain silent and wait for the right opportunity.

The mint fragrance from his hair made Ely Lam feel more at ease. She simply let him hold her hand. She was still lying on top of a strange handsome man, and they were not even in a romantic relationship.

After a long while, Ely Lam felt that something was wrong. When she finally realized what it was, she was so embarrassed that she could not make a sound. His lower body had awakened, and it was now raised confidently, rubbing against her thigh until it felt hot and sore. She had watched romantic movies and heard that a man’s body could be particularly responsive in the morning. But now that she was actually facing the hard little thing threatening her, should she really grit her teeth and endure it while her face turned bright red?

“Could you let me go? That… doesn’t seem very appropriate.” Ely Lam exerted a little force, trying to stand up.

“Where?” Liam Vuong pretended not to understand. He was indeed drunk, but how could he not know what was happening with his own body?

“You…!” Ely Lam could not understand how a handsome man like him could be so shameless. She was tense and flushed from embarrassment, while he kept his eyes closed and still asked where.

Liam Vuong felt the girl in his arms trying to leave, so he immediately rolled over and pinned her back onto the bed. Ever since the previous night, he had felt that he and this woman were destined to meet. He was determined to tie her to his side so that she could not run away. This feeling was completely new to him.

“You took advantage of me yesterday, and now you want to leave today?” His body was several times larger than hers. Ely Lam could not move at all. She opened her eyes wide and looked at him. Only now did she realize that he was looking directly at her as well.

The two stared at each other. Liam Vuong thought he had the advantage over her, but in reality, he had already lost. His body was reacting instinctively to her. Whether she had been unconscious the previous night or was awake now, he was the one at a disadvantage.

A man like him could force her if he wanted to, and Ely Lam would have no strength to escape. She opened her eyes wide and looked at Liam Vuong. She needed to know who he was first, but now that she could not escape, what was she supposed to do?

“Who are you? What’s your name?”

Seeing that she seemed to have resigned herself to the situation, Liam Vuong finally released her. He staggered out of bed and glanced at the bowl of porridge that had been left on the table the previous night.

“I am Liam Vuong. You had a high fever yesterday, and I saved your life. Paul Hu was busy handling something, so I helped him bring you here. But you were unconscious, so I couldn’t find your home.”

“I had to endure you the entire night and stay here to sleep because of you. Don’t you know how to say thank you?” He slowly approached her, a somewhat impolite smile appearing on his face.

“Thank… you…” Just then, Ely Lam’s phone rang. She hurriedly said thank you before answering the call.

Ely Lam looked at the phone number with a wave of disgust, but she still had to answer.

“Second Sister, why did you stay out all night and not come home?” Juhi Lam spoke over the phone in the sweetest voice she could manage.

“Go home? That place stopped being my home a long time ago. Why are you calling to ask about me? Right, yesterday, thanks to your blessing, I couldn’t even return to my rented room. So, are you satisfied now?” Ely Lam said coldly, speaking into the phone without holding anything back.

“Sister…! Do you know how worried Dad is about you? Yesterday, after Dad came back from the company, he even asked about you.” Juhi Lam glanced at Knox Lam beside her. With a cruel smile on her face, she tried her best to speak in the most affectionate tone possible.

Liam Vuong watched Ely Lam as though he were watching an interesting show. He should have looked into this girl sooner.

“Did I ask you people to worry about me? How did you and your mother have someone hurt me last night? The police came and witnessed it. Do you really think nobody knows?” Hearing that Knox Lam was beside her, Ely Lam deliberately raised her voice. As soon as Juhi Lam heard this, she immediately hung up.

“Why did you stop talking?” Knox Lam had been listening to the conversation and suddenly exploded with anger when the call was cut off.

“Dad, Second Sister hung up,” Juhi Lam lied.

“Mr. Li, go find the eldest daughter and bring her back here.”

“Yes.”

“She is becoming more and more undisciplined. We let her rent a place and live independently, yet she dares to stay out all night without coming home.” Knox Lam had called her landlord that morning to ask about her. The landlord had said that Ely Lam had not returned to the rented room all night, which was why he was so furious.
